Andy Stanton's visit to GWA & book signWhat an exciting day! UOIGentle reminder about the home learning project. It would be wonderful to see some home learning projects from our class. So far there have not been any. If you child has already invented a rube Goldberg machine please send in a video clip soon- please do not wait until the 23rd to send them in as we will not have enough time to share them all. Compound Machines Today students investigated what a compound machine is. Please ask them to explain to you and see if you can find any at home. MathsThe class have now learned how to using standard-units (ml & l) to measure the capacity of different sized containers. Please enjoy the photo presentation below. This week we are consolidating students knowledge of measure (length, capacity & mass) and seeing if we can problem solve using our new skills. Uniforms- gentle reminder *Please can you support your child to wear the correct school uniform to school. Lots of children are wearing non-school uniform jackets and jumpers. *Hats and water bottles - now that it is getting hotter and we can finally see the sun again please can you encourage your child to bring a named hat and water bottle for recess time. The class receive two 25 minutes outdoor recess times each day, they really should be protected by sun hats. Dates for your diary

His books are on sale in the Library should your child wish to buy one on the day. ***Please wear school uniform and have your P.E. kit in your bag*** Student Led Conferences Thank you to all of you who were able to make it to the Student Led Conferences last week. It was wonderful to see all of the children so excited to share their learning with you. The children were so proud of themselves the next day. Literacy Spelling focus- To recognize and spell common suffixes and how these influence word meanings - ly & -less. Writing We are continuing to develop our explanation writing skills. Students have learned about how to create interesting hooks to capture the readers attention. This week we will be working on using paragraphs to structure our writing. Below is an example of a graphic organizer that the children will be using to help them develop paragraphs. Maths Capacity and Weight Students will explore the standard measure of capacity: millilitres (ml) and liters (l) to measure water. They will also use grams (g) and kilograms (kg) to weigh objects. UOI - Machines using LEGO Robotics Last week we learned how to use lego to create machines operated by technology. The class had fantastic time.
