Last week the class learned about Ancient Chinese Myths to find out where some of the Chinese traditions have come from.
Below are some examples of the stories that the children retold in small group.
Do you have any myths or fables that your child would like to share with the class? We would love to learn about myths, fables and legends from other cultures.

Home Learning Project for this unit
Dear Parents,
Our current unit of study about ancient civilizations presents Grade 2 with a fantastic opportunity to combine artistic creativity with peer learning opportunities. We will celebrate and deepen our understanding with a costume dress-up day for students on May 10th. Grade 2 teachers are planning activities including an interactive grade-wide quiz, a costume parade, and some role play.
In most ancient civilizations, people’s roles and status in society were made evident through many avenues including the clothes and accessories they were permitted to wear. With this in mind, we highly encourage students to research and select a role to represent from an ancient civilization of their choice. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to be researchers and thinkers, finding crafty ways to create their own accessories whether it be jewelry, special headgear, artistic prints and designs on cloth, draping techniques, armor, etc.
We will be asking students to inform us of the civilization they intend to represent by April 30th which still leaves them with 10 days to finalize which role within their chosen civilization they intend to come as. Some suggestions of civilizations include but are not limited to: Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Ancient China, The Indus Civilization, Mayans and Aztecs, The Stone Age, Ancient Arabia, The Vikings, etc...
We hope you and your child have fun with this home learning connection!
