Dear Parents,
I hope you enjoyed looking through your child's work on Seesaw over the weekend. If you haven't had a chance to, please check for a parent login printout that was send home on Thursday in your child's folder.
In Maths this week we will be focusing on doubling and halving double and triple-digit numbers. The strategy we will be using can be seen in the image below:
We will also look at how to reflect patterns and draw them to create mirror images.
In Language and Unit of Inquiry we are inquiring into how signs and symbols are also artistic ways of communicating messages and concepts. More specifically, as an extension of International Day, we are also researching what our individual country flags mean. What do the colors and designs represent? In addition to this, we will also be completing writing activities to ensure that the children are using their capital letters and full stops, different openers and interesting punctuation.
We will also begin our papier mache project in class to lead into next week's investigation into how masks and facial tattoos are used in different cultures to communicate expressions, emotions, and status.
We have also launched an additional reading and comprehension resource for families to use at home which can be accessed through www.kidsa-z.com. Your child's account has been set up and their reading level has been specified by me either at their in-class reading level or one level above as they can receive support at home. I may occasionally suggest books for students to read that complement a unit of study, but in general, this is a reading resource that you can use at home at your discretion. I will walk the students through how to use the resource today and will either email you or send home a parent printout to explain how to access it.
Reminders/Announcement:
Have a wonderful week!
Warm regards,
Bhavna

Reminders/Announcement:
- On Wednesday we have an exciting visitor, as organized by a grade 2 parent. The children will meet a Chinese artist who is the youngest artist to be exhibited in DIFC. He is coming in to showcase his work and discuss what it is like to be an artist as well as teach the children how to draw in his style. We are really looking forward to it.
- This Thursday is Career Dress up day where students are encouraged to dress up as something that they would like to be when they are older. I look forward to seeing some wonderful costumes.
- I will upload photos from the field trip this week!
Have a wonderful week!
Warm regards,
Bhavna
